Avoid Being an Overwhelmed Senior!
As a high school senior, it's easy to become overwhelmed. Here are tips to help you keep things in perspective.
Sure, we all get that nervousness every year, but don’t worry about it. It’s your last! Until college, but that’s for another day. Remember that everyone is experiencing the same thing and, chances are, people are giving you a lot more respect. First off, take a deep breath. You know how your school works. You’ve been there for a while, and you know what to expect from most teachers. They’re all there to help, and it’s important to frequently talk to your guidance counselor for upcoming scholarship opportunities.
It helps to stay on top of the main assignments so when you have even bigger things to focus on, like college, you won’t be as overwhelmed. Start by figuring out your key colleges, and definitely location. Maybe you don’t want to be too far from home, or maybe you do.
Either way, Fastweb has tons of information for you to choose from: whether it’s scholarship opportunities or advice for essay writing.
Once you get your college list, meet with your guidance counselor to discuss what would be best for you, even though the choice is ultimately yours in the end. Even if you don’t specifically know your major, that’s okay! There’s still time to decide what fits you best. Ultimately, enjoy this year. You have freedom from the adult world, and people know that you’re not just a kid. Although there are other assignments and frustrations with school, there are benefits: seeing your friends every day, and not having to pay bills. Even though high school is almost over, you’re onto a new branch of life to do even greater things. No matter what happens, remember that people are always there to support you.
