Astra Space Machine Shop Internship-PAID

Description

The Astra Space Machine Shop Internship is available to applicants who are interested in metal work, have used basic hand tools, have a basic understanding of how to read part drawings or blueprints in order to determine dimensions and tolerances, are comfortable with computers and Microsoft Excel, can calculate feeds and speeds and can solve geometry problems, and can lay out, measure, and mark metal stock in preparation for machining. Additionally, you should be able to lift 40+ pounds, push heavy carts or crates, and can stretch, reach, kneel, or crawl as may be required by certain tasks. As an intern, you will help with finishing operations, installing threaded inserts, loading/unloading CNC machines, and assisting machinists with their tasks. You will also be exposed to perform quality control and may assist in performing inspections or working with metrology instruments. You will work with machines that can cut metal, such as mills, lathes, saws, grinders, and drill presses and more. Furthermore, you will assist the maintenance team by helping to clean, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on tools. This internship is offered in Alameda, CA.
