Description

The John and Jake Emery Family Curatorial Internship is available to students who are pursuing studies in museum studies, history, anthropology, or other related fields. To be considered for this opportunity, you should be detail-oriented, comfortable talking with people and listening with empathy, and self-directed but willing to ask questions and seek direction when unsure. As an intern, you will gain valuable, hands-on curation experience focused on the Research Services Inc. Collection (MSS.1791): from identifying and contacting potential donors and accessioning collections to cataloging and processing new collections and researching and photographing legacy artifacts to enrich catalog records. You will work closely with the business and industry curator to learn curatorial skills, including the collection of an oral history with Jake Emery. By the end of the internship, you should be able to understand donor relations, the legal requirements and ethics of curation, how to process and catalog artifacts, and how to conduct basic historical research. This internship is offered in Denver, CO, during the summer. A stipend of $2,500 is provided.
