October’s Cyber Security month!
If you’re looking for money to pay for school, using your major to help you find scholarships is a nice place to start the scholarship search. But, before we dive into the list of cyber security grants and scholarships, let’s cover the basics...

What is cyber security?

Cyber security is protecting computer networks, software, hardware, and internet connections from hackers, malicious code, or other nefarious attempts to compromise data that may negatively impact society and infrastructure. Cyber protection is needed for phones, email, social media, navigation systems, online shopping, medical equipment, and more. According to the United States Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency, “Cybersecurity is the art of protecting networks, devices, and data from unauthorized access or criminal use and the practice of ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.”
Cyber security jobs are available in both the public and private sectors. Cyber and security analysts can work at financial institutions, computer companies, schools, businesses, and more. Cyber security is a great field to consider as it pays well and there is a strong demand for cyber security workers. According to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay for cyber security analysts is $112,000 per year, with cyber analysts' jobs projected to grow faster than the average of all other occupations.

How to get started with a career in cyber security?
