Guidelines to Post a Scholarship on FastWeb

To ensure that your target recipients are notified of your award through our matching services, FastWeb needs the following information:

1. Sponsor Information
In order to qualify as an award sponsor, we need your organization’s mailing address, phone number, and contact name. Phone numbers and contact names are for internal use only, unless you request that your award contain that information when posted on our Web site. Also, always include your Web site’s URL. Finally, a fax number and email address are helpful but not necessarily required.

2. Award Information

1. The basics: name of the award, deadline date, value of the award, and the number of awards.
2. Minimum SAT/ACT and GPA.
3. Any descriptive information that indicates who this award is targeting. For example, is the award for college freshmen only? High school juniors and seniors only? What is the required major for all applicants? Required organization membership?
4. Provide a detailed description of the actual award. For example:

“The John Rodriguez Memorial Scholarship is for full-time students who attend Boston University and are majoring in the areas of computer science and computer engineering. A minimum 3.2 GPA is required. This award is for Massachusetts residents only and is renewable with the required GPA.”
5. Please include important response information, such as “Only emails will be accepted,” “No emails accepted,” “Send a SASE for further information,” or “You will find the complete scholarship information by going to our Web site.” If you prefer responses by mail, omitting this information may result in receiving unwanted calls or emails.
6. Other areas to consider for your scholarship guidelines:

  • Required state of residency
  • Required college state
  • Required college or university
  • Required residency of a particular city or county
  • Required race or heritage
  • Required student activities, such as clubs, professional or civic organizations or particular extracurricular activities
  • Any parental requirements, such as a union membership or active military or veteran
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Specific disabilities if applicable
  • Religion or religious heritage
  • Sports or hobbies
  • Gender or marital status

Award Review Criteria

The FastWeb Research Department reviews each award submission and requires the following in order to post your scholarship successfully.

1. Application does not ask students for a social security or credit card number.
2. Award does not charge a fee to apply or reapply.
3. Corporate information, such as address, phone number, email, is easily accessible to students for further inquiries.
4. Award does not display ads or other competitor scholarships.
5. Award URL links directly to the specific scholarship page. Scholarship page must have a brief bio about the organization/company/institution.
6. Award page must clearly outline all eligibility criteria, required materials necessary for students to apply, and outline award selection process and/or judging criteria.
7. If provider claims to be a not-for-profit organization, we have the right to verify their 501 ©(3) status. The sponsor must provide appropriate documentation confirming their status if we are unable to confirm through our own efforts.

Privacy Policy

All scholarship submissions are required to have a privacy policy visible on each page of the sponsor’s Web site. The FastWeb Research Department not only works to provide quality scholarships for students but to ensure that students’ information is protected. Privacy policies must include:

1. Name of business/organization and/or site name, address, and contact information
2. Language detailing whether or not you collect information from site visitors, what information is collected, and how this information is used once it is collected. Furthermore, student information can only be shared if students give their permission and for the purpose of awarding scholarships.
3. Students must not be automatically enrolled to receive extraneous emails and/or solicitations of any sort. You must provide an area where students can indicate whether or not they’d like to receive further communication. Finally, all further emails must include an option to remove their email address from any distribution lists.
