Exercise Science and Kinesiology
What is kinesiology? It’s also known as human kinetics, and it’s the study of an individual’s movement. A major in kinesiology opens the door to a career in sports medicine or something similar. It also includes things like orthopedics, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, rehabilitation and exercise.
Folks with degrees in kinesiology transition to careers in research, the fitness industry and even professional sports. Working as a sports medicine specialist for professional athletes can be a very lucrative and rewarding position.
Some kinesiology graduates immediately enter the field after school and others go on to get their PhD or attend medical school. Kinesiologists target physical injuries. Classes a person will take can include: mathematics, nutrition, biology, geriatric studies, chemistry and even physics. With today’s new virtual technology, kinesiologists are finding it even easier to treat patients in fun, engaging ways. This is an evolving field of study and one that will leap to new bounds within the next decade.
