Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP)

Provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP) is open to veterans who elected to make contributions from their military pay to participate in VEAP. Your contributions are matched on a $2 for $1 basis by the government. You must meet the following requirements to be considered for this award: entered service for the first time between January 1, 1977, and June 30, 1985; opened a contribution account before April 1, 1987; voluntarily contributed from $25 to $2700; completed your first period of service; and were discharged or released from service under conditions other than dishonorable. The War Orphans Tuition Assistance is open to children of those service personnel who died while in the military or due to service-connected disabilities, or who are officially listed as missing in action by the U.S. Department of Defense. To qualify, the child must be a resident of New Jersey for at least one year immediately preceding the filing of the application and be between the ages of 16 and 21 at the time of application. Nebraska Waiver of Tuition for Veterans’ Dependents

The Nebraska Waiver of Tuition for Veterans' Dependents is open to any eligible child, spouse, widow or widower attending the University of Nebraska, the state colleges, and community colleges. You must be a resident of Nebraska. In addition, you must have a parent, stepparent or spouse who was a member of the armed forces of the United States and who: (1) Died of a service connected disability; (2) Died subsequent to discharge as a result of injury or illness sustained while in service; (3) Is permanently and totally disabled as a result of military service; (4) Is classified as missing in action or as a prisoner of war during armed hostilities after August 4, 1964. The waiver shall be valid for one degree, diploma, or certificate from a community college and one baccalaureate degree. Applications are submitted to the Department of Veterans' Affairs by contacting the County Veterans Service Officer nearest the applicants place of residence. Green to Gold Scholarship

Available to: College Freshman through College Seniors
Award Amount: Varies The Green to Gold Scholarship is available to U.S. citizens with a minimum of two years Active Duty as well as three months of Active Duty for every one month of specialized training. You must be a high school graduate or equivalent, have a minimum GPA of 2.5, a GT score of at least 110 and pass the APFT within the last 6 months with score of 180 or higher, minimum of 60 points in each event. Also, you must submit letters of acceptance from the PMS of that Army ROTC Battalion and school offering Army ROTC. Additionally, you must not have been convicted of a domestic violence crime, have a Favorable National Agency Check (or have initiated the action), DODMERB Medical Qualification, be eligible to Reenlist, not be a conscientious objector and have no more than 3 dependents, including spouse to qualify for this award.
