Description

The Smithsonian Environmental Research Center / Coastal Disease Ecology Lab Internship is available to currently enrolled undergraduate and master's students, or students who have recently graduated from undergraduate or master's programs. You must have strong academic credentials, relevant training or experience, letters of recommendation, and how well expressed goals align with the internship program to be considered for this position. As an intern, you will conduct research on a Smithsonian-funded project to process eDNA water samples collected previously from multiple streams across the Baltimore and Anacostia watersheds. For this project, you will be generating amplicon-based metabarcode libraries to examine the biodiversity of aquatic animals and bacteria across these streams, as indicators of ecosystem health. This 20-week internship is offered in Edgewater, MD.
