Description

The African Community Center Job Readiness Internship is available to students who have strong intercultural, communication, and organizational skills. Additionally, you should have interest in working in a non-profit setting with refugees. Preference will be given to applicants who are bilingual in English and one of the following languages: Arabic, Somali, Kiswahili, Tigrinya, Dari, Pashto, Nepali, Burmese and dialects spoken in Burma (Karen, Kachin, Rohingya and others). As an intern, you will work closely with recently resettled families to prepare them for their first job. Responsibilities include creating employment and career plans, providing life skills training to ease the transition to life in the U.S., and referring participants to necessary training programs. You will be responsible for coordinating and conducting Job Club training sessions to help New Americans create resumes, practice interview skills, learn about the job environment and expectations in the U.S. You will also connect with local employers to follow up with job applications and advocate for our clients. This internship is located in Denver, CO.
