Description

The Studio Museum in Harlem Public Programs Fellowship is available to applicants with a BA/BFA in art, art history, art education, arts administration, Africana studies or related fields, or equivalent experience in public programming in lieu of a degree. To be considered for this role, you should have one-three years of relevant professional experience working on programming with responsibilities ranging from planning, developing, and implementing programs. You should be familiar with community outreach strategies and developing relationships with social, cultural, and local organizations in New York City. Additionally, you should have familiarity with Microsoft Office products and with contemporary art, artists’ practice, and programmatic strategies. As an intern, you will be involved in researching, developing, producing, and evaluating adult public programs and events, conducting outreach to cultural partners, and brainstorming audience development strategies. You will be responsible for communicating and coordinating with a diverse group of program participants and facilitators, including exhibiting artists, lecturers, performers, scholars, educators, writers, community organizers, and arts and culture organizations. You will also be part of a small team tasked with designing public programs and community engagement opportunities for adult audiences. These include artist talks, hands-on art-making workshops, film screenings, book clubs, panel discussions, and artist-in-residence programs. This year-long fellowship is offered in New York, NY.
