The Spirit of American Youth Scholarship Program is open to graduating high school seniors who attend a public or private school in the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys of California. You must be a U.S. citizen, national or legal permanent resident, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be enrolling for the first time at an accredited U.S. college or university in the fall. Additionally, you must be attending a public or private high school in the aforementioned areas, including the following communities: Glendale, Montrose, Pasadena, Arcadia, Eagle Rock, La Canada, La Crescenta, Los Feliz, San Marino, Toluca Lake, Burbank, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, and Encino. You must also demonstrate involvement in leadership abilities, community service, extracurricular or other activities to be eligible for this award. Selection is also based on determination to succeed and future goals and plans to achieve them, and also how you intend to invest back into your community to help create a better existence for future generations.
