Description
The USA Biology Olympiad is a four-tier competition that focuses on the fundamentals of biology and the critical issues relating to environmental sciences, biotechnology, genetic engineering and recombinant DNA. This is an annual event that is organized by the Center for Excellence in Education, a non-profit organization based in Vienna, Virginia, and is co-sponsored by George Mason University. You must be nominated by a teacher for the USABO Open Exam. From this group, 500 semi-finalists will be selected. Out of these semi-finalists, the top twenty students are then selected. In May, these twenty students will study and compete at the two-week residential USA Biology Olympiad at George Mason University in Virginia. From this group, the USA team consisting of the top four students will be selected to go to Australia for the International Biology Olympiad.
