Description

The PennDOT High School Automotive Mechanic Internship is available to high school junior and senior students in the Sullivan County, PA, area who are at least 16 years of age. To be considered for this opportunity, you must submit a letter of recommendation and a work permit and should be able to perform essential job functions. As an intern, you will work closely with assigned mechanics, gaining essential skills that are vital for success in various automotive tasks. Specifically, your responsibilities will include: performing general repairs and preventative maintenance on cars and light trucks, executing oil and tire changes, inspecting and replacing brake systems, assessing and repairing suspensions, diagnosing and fixing air conditioning issues, and meticulously documenting all repairs. Additionally, you will learn to interpret and complete work orders, utilize computer diagnostic tools, and maintain tools and equipment by following proper handling, usage, and storage protocols. This internship is offered during the school year in LaPorte, PA.
