The Kansas Department for Children and Families Government Affairs Internship is available to students who are residents of Kansas and are currently majoring in political science, pre-law, law, public affairs, communications or related fields. Successful candidates will have the ability to develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with staff; the ability to understand, analyze and report on complex issues to the supervisor; and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clarity and accuracy. To be considered for this role, you must be able to pass obtain a security clearance and tax clearance. As an intern, you will attend, monitor, and report on legislative committee meetings relevant to DCF policy areas throughout the interim between sessions as well as during the legislative session. You will track applicable legislation and amendments offered by policy makers and stakeholders, work with public and government affairs on preparation and submission of legislative committee testimony, and assist in preparation and distribution of information to legislators and stakeholders. This internship is offered in Topeka, KS.
