The MIT Haystack Observatory REU Internship is available to undergraduate students who are pursuing studies in a STEM field. To be considered for this internship, you must be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident. As an intern, your research focus may include: plasma line extraction from low signal-to-noise datasets, developing a prototype drone platform with a software radio payload, uncovering mass loss histories of dying stars, observing black holes, studying distant quasars, geospace stormtime plumes in the ionosphere, radio star-imaging, resolving clumpy clouds via radio interferometry, using dark clouds to understand distant galaxies, studying galactic centers, role of magnetic fields in star formation, arctic sea ice deformation, developing software to monitor ice-shelf stability, or developing high-accuracy empirical models of ionospheric parameters. Interns will participate in science discussions, tours, group meetings, final reports/seminar, and conferences. This internship is offered in Westford, MA, during the summer.
