Description

The NCH Racial Equity Internship is available to students who are interested in helping address homelessness. To be considered for this internship, you should be able to multi-task, be able to work independently, and possess superior research and written communication skills. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience with direct service to homeless/low income populations, writing promotional materials, event planning, and digital and social media writing. As an intern, you will participate in the Homeless Racial Equity workgroup to implement the goals of reducing discrimination and injustice within the housing and homeless system. You will assist with compiling a curriculum for local and state coalitions to use in teaching about racial inequality in the homeless sector and with outreach to advocates throughout the U.S. to encourage diversity in leadership and board appointments to include more people who have experienced homelessness in leadership. You will also work to improve the curriculum provided to those with lived experience who are enrolled in order to develop their leadership skills, assist with updating a literature reference guide to supplement a racial equity curriculum, set up meetings with key policy makers to forward NCH policy objectives, and highlight inequality and discriminatory policies that act as a block to stable housing in the local community. This internship is offered on a fully remote basis.
