Description

The SCBI Small Mammal House Enrichment Internship is available to undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates of a field related to Animal Zoology/Biology. You must be flexible, have strong communication and public speaking skills, be able lift up to 50 pounds, be able to pass a background check, and provide documentation for a current negative TB test and tetanus shot to be eligible for this internship. As an intern, you will learn to design, construct, and implement environmental enrichment, research and create new enrichment for the Zoo's Small Mammal House residents, learn basic animal husbandry including cleaning exhibits and preparing food, help lead formal and informal interpretive educational programs for visitors, and learn and follow animal/keeper safety guidelines, operations and polices. This internship is located in Washington, DC.
