Description

The Child Life Internship is available to students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in child life, child development, human development and family studies, psychology, or a closely related field. You must have minimum of 100 hours of experience with well infants, children, youth and/or families, minimum of 150 hours of volunteer experience within a child life program with infants, children, youth and/or families in stressful situations, health care settings and/or programs designed for children with special needs, completion of 1 or more courses taught by a certified child life specialist (CCLS), and Completion of a minimum of 10 classes in child development, psychology, child life, or related field. Child life practicum highly preferred, but not mandatory. As an intern, you will receive multiple skill-building and educational opportunities in the areas of medical play, psychological preparation, charting, planning and supervising developmentally-appropriate play activities, working within the multidisciplinary team, family-centered care, family support, prioritizing needs, and developmental assessment.
