Description

The Collections Internship in Archives/Research at Mackinack Island Historic Parks is available to students who are at least 18 years or older (as of the first date of the internship) who are majoring in history, anthropology, library science or a related field. You must possess education and experience in basic museum practices and demonstrate knowledge of collections management, policies and procedures. You must also have experience in museum inventorying, artifact handling, marking and cataloging to be eligible for this position. Interns will be responsible for management of institutional archives and research in the Peterson Center Library in Mackinaw City. Interns will catalog books, manuscripts, maps, plans and photographs; organize raw research files; and also promote and look over staff use of materials as well as assigning visiting researchers.
