The Breakthrough New York Internship is available to motivated high school and college students of all majors who are interested in mentoring local seventh through twelfth grade students in New York City. Breakthrough New York is a tuition - free, year - round enrichment program for highly motivated middle school students with limited educational opportunities. Once accepted, the students make a two - year commitment, which includes a rigorous academic summer program as well as educational enrichment classes, museum trips, mentoring, and high school placement guidance throughout the school year. Breakthrough New York connects motivated middle school students with a talented group of their high school and college - aged peers and creates an environment where love of learning, academic achievement, and community leadership are deeply valued. Preference is given to students in local high schools and colleges.
