Education

Teachers are the lifeblood of any educational institution. What’s even more enticing as an education major is the education specialty - whether that’s music, art, science, math, special needs or physical education, the options are almost endless.

Do I need a degree to be a teacher?

In the United States, public schools require teachers to have at least a bachelor’s degree. The good news is thousands of colleges and universities offer this major, along with several other specialties, like child development for preschool teaching opportunities.

What degree is required to be a college professor?

Most college professors have at least a master’s degree, and several have a doctoral degree. Becoming a teaching assistant is a popular first step after college for those who want to become professors. The advanced degrees are typically in the field the future professor wants to teach.

A master’s degree in education administration is one of the highest paying degrees for education majors. This type of education allows the student to become a K-12 principal.
