Argosy University, Seattle is one of 19 nationwide for-profit campuses of Argosy University, which was formed in 2001 through the merger of the American Schools of Professional Psychology, the Medical Institute of Minnesota, and the University of Sarasota. The Seattle campus was founded in 1995 as the Washington School of Professional Psychology. Argosy maintains its accreditation through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the accrediting body for the California headquarters, and as this campus' programs are not accredited by the local regional accreditation body, the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, American Psychological Association or the AACSB, the Seattle Campus of Argosy University should not be viewed as an accredited institution on its own, but a partially accredited version of the main branch. Oftentimes students at Seattle classes will see Phoenix, Chicago, or elsewhere on their transcript, reflecting the school's recognition of this status.
Argosy University, Seattle, consists of five divisions: the College of Psychology and Behavioral sciences, which offers the MA in behavioral health counseling, and a Psy.D. as well as MA in clinical psychology; the College of Education, which offers the M.A.Ed. and Ed.D. in educational leadership and in curriculum and instruction; the College of Business, which offers the MBA and the DBA. in marketing and in management; the College of Health Sciences, which offers a Master's in Public Health (MPH); and the College of Undergraduate Studies, which offers bachelor’s degree programs in Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, and Psychology. Although some Argosy campuses do have APA accreditation for the Clinical Psychology (PsyD) degree, the Seattle campus is not currently APA accredited.
The campus is located in an office building two blocks away from the Seattle waterfront, on the edge of the Belltown neighborhood.
