ArchLabs Linux is a simple lightweight rolling release Linux distribution based on a minimal Arch Linux operating system with the Openbox window manager.
The Openbox ArchLabs Linux Distro inspired by BunsenLabs and powered by Arch Linux.
Inspired by Bunsenlabs, original ArchLabs members Matthew Dobson and Brett Stevens began to put together the foundations of ArchLabs in early January 2017 as an Arch Linux based alternative to the Debian based BunsenLabs. The first release was on 24th January 2017.
The release versions 3.0 through to 5.0 were criticised for being bloated from far too many applications and themes as well as suffering from a large ISO size. This led to a refocus of the team on minimalism and producing a lightweight ISO. Mínimowas the first of this minimal release with a change from the traditionally Openbox panel, Tint2 to Polybar. Also introduced in this release was the Al-Hello script which was a nod to their "brother" distribution BunsenLabs.
AL-Hello is a post install script to aid the user in setting up their desktop with many popular applications and utilities. This aided in minimising the ISO for download.
2018.02 release brings a new and improved AL-Hello welcome script and many additions and refining to ArchLabs.
