The Institut Francais de Washington Fellowship is available to French studies scholars in the areas of art, economics, history, history of science, linguistics, literature and the social sciences. The award is to be used for maintenance (not travel) during research conducted in France for a period of at least two months. To be eligible for this award, you must be in the final stage of your Ph.D. dissertation or have earned your Ph.D. in the last six years. This award has no application form. To apply, submit your resume and a statement of no more than two pages describing your research and planned trip (location, length of stay, etc.). A letter of recommendation from your dissertation director is required if you are a Ph.D. candidate.
