ColoHealth Price Transparency Scholarship

Description

The ColoHealth Price Transparency Scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors who will attend college and undergraduate students who are enrolled in a two or four-year college/program. Selection is based on a 500+ word essay on the following topic: "One of the reasons medical costs are so high is that prices are typically hidden from the consumer. Rarely do hospitals or doctor’s offices publish their prices, so it can be very difficult for the consumer to price shop and compare. Some insurance companies have instituted trial programs that give the consumer a percentage of the savings if they find lower-priced medical care. Discuss this or other ideas that can encourage price transparency and competition among healthcare providers."
