$15K G2 Overachievers Student Grant
Middle school and high school students as well as college freshmen have an opportunity to apply for the G2 Overachievers Student Grant.
Students will find that there are a plethora of scholarships and grants for high school and college students. However, there are rare opportunities for middle school students to find and apply for a scholarship.

About the G2 Overachievers Student Grant

The G2 Overachievers Student Grant is a scholarship for middle school students, high school students, and college freshmen. Its purpose is to recognize students who are making a difference in and outside of the classroom. Awarded by Pilot Pen, this grant is worth $15,000. To apply, students must submit an application as well as a 1,000 to 2,000-word handwritten essay explaining how they, or the person they’re nominating, is changing the world around them.

Deadline: 12/15/23 Available to: Middle school, high school, and college students Award Amount: $15,000
The G2 Overachievers Student Grant is available to middle and high school honor roll students between the ages of 13 and 19. To be considered, you must submit a 1,000 – to 2,000 - word handwritten essay explaining how you (or the person you are nominating) make a difference in the world around you and why you deserve to be recognized for these efforts.

How to Apply

To apply, students must complete the online form and scan their handwritten letter, which they can attach as a PDF, PNG, or JPG. Applicants should be sure that their contact information is accurate and up to date. If the scholarship committee cannot reach a certain applicant, they will be forced to select someone else. Students can also apply by mail. These submissions must include a hard copy of the application form, which can be downloaded from the website, as well as their handwritten note. Applications must be postmarked by December 15, 2023.

Judging Process

Once the window for nominations has closed, the entries will enter a Judging Period. During this time, 21 finalists will be selected and notified of their status. All applicants will be judged on SMART criteria: • Specific action that improved others’ lives. • Measurable difference, based on the number of people impacted. • Attained a measurable difference. • Resourced by the individual (the nominee should have played a major role in starting the initiative that made impact). • The overachievement must have taken place within the last 24 months. At the end of the judging process, one $15,000 grant will be distributed to the winning student. All other finalists will receive a prize pack from Pilot Pen worth $100.

More Scholarships for Middle, High School, and College Students

When it comes to the scholarship search, high school and college students have a variety of opportunities to apply for. Middle school scholarships are rare. However, there are a few organizations that set the minimum age requirement for applicants during the middle school years.

Create a Greeting Card Scholarship

Deadline: 3/1/2024 Available to: Student at least 14 years old Award Amount: $10,000 The Create-A-Greeting Card Scholarship Contest is open to students who are at least 14 years of age. To enter, you must submit an original design for a Christmas card, holiday card, birthday card, or all - occasion greeting card. All designs or photographs must be the original work of the applicant.

Doodle for Google

Deadline: TBD – applications opening Spring 2024 Available to: Students in grades Kindergarten - 12 Award Amount: Up to $30,000 The Doodle for Google Contest is open to students in grades K through 12. To be considered, you must use your imagination and any material you want to create a Google Doodle based on what you’re grateful for.

Brower Youth Award

Deadline: TBD – applications open Spring 2024 Available to: Students between the ages of 13 - 22 Award Amount: $3,000 The Brower Youth Award is available to students between the ages of 13 and 22 in North America. You must have played a major leadership role in creating, organizing, and implementing an environmental project to be eligible for this award. Each winner is awarded a trip to San Francisco to attend the awards ceremony. During their stay in California, students will participate in leadership activities and workshops on coaching, visioning, public speaking, and developing media relations.

The Paradigm Challenge

Deadline: 5/1/24 Available to: Students between ages 4 - 18 Award Amount: Up to $100,000 The Paradigm Challenge is open to students up to the age of 18. You may work in a team or alone in creating an original and creative way to help solve real-life problems in homes, schools, communities, and/or around the world. Entries may come in the form of posters, videos, inventions, messages, community events, websites, mobile apps, or anything else that will help save lives. Additionally, you must submit a brief statement of your idea (140 characters or less) to qualify for this award.

Ocean Awareness Challenge

Deadline: TBD – applications open Spring 2024 Available to: Students between ages 11 – 18 Award Amount: $1,500 The Ocean Awareness Contest is open to students between the ages of 11 and 18. Students are invited to learn about the climate crisis and its impact on oceans; discover or imagine solutions at local, national, or global scales; and create work that explores hope in action. Submissions are accepted in visual art, creative writing, film, interactive and multimedia, music and dance, poetry, and spoken word. Entries may be submitted by an individual or group of unlimited size. If you submit as a group, there must be one group leader who will serve as the contact person for the group.
