Top 10 College Towns with the Best Pizza

Pizza is to college like sunshine is to summer – so much so that Great Value Colleges has comprised a list of the top 50 college town pizza shops. From traditional to bizarre, these pizza shops cater to the variety in tastes of college students. And when you’re pulling an all-nighter or procrastinating the week before finals, these cheap pizza shops always have your back.

These rankings were determined with the help of Yelp reviews; so if your favorite college town pizza shop didn’t make the cut, be sure to help them out next time with some positive reviews on Yelp. Take a look at the top 10:

10. Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana
College: Yale University and University of New Haven
Town: New Haven, Connecticut

This pizza shop actually has two claims to fame: it’s one of the oldest pizzerias in the country and its White Clam Pizza. Oftentimes, the line is out the door and down the street, but reviewers say it’s worth the wait.

9. Antonio’s
College: Amherst College
Town: Amherst, Massachusetts

Antonio’s isn’t your typical pizza parlor. They serve gourmet pizzas that range from traditional mozzarella, tomato and basil to black bean avocado and BBQ steak taco. Each slice costs around $3 or $4, but the pizzeria serves slices of cheese pizza for just $1 on Friday nights.

8. NeoPapalis
College: University of Michigan
Town: Ann Arbor, MI

University of Michigan students are always on the go, and this pizzeria just minutes from campus, reportedly makes the fastest pizza in town. After just a 2 to 2.5 minute wait, students will have their customized pizza to go, to dine inside or outside on the patio.

7. Little Italy Pizzeria
College: University of Georgia
Town: Athens, Georgia

Little Italy Pizzeria seems more like a bar that happens to serve pizza. Open very late, this pizzeria serves pizza and beer at very low prices.

6. Milto’s
College: University of Texas
Town: Austin, Texas

This pizza shop in Austin seeks to be as accessible as possible to students. Not only did the tailgate every college football game last season, but they also created an app so that students can order easily and quickly. This pizzeria provides Greek food for those not in the mood for pizza by the slice or whole pie.

5. Sliver
College: University of California
Town: Berkeley, CA

Sliver gets its name from the generous addition of a sliver of a pizza pie for each slice ordered. Essentially, customers are getting a slice and a half for the price of one. Furthermore, this pizzeria makes the choice between slices very simple in that they only serve one kind of pizza each day. The schedule for the week is posted online so students can decide which day they’d love to grab a slice for $2.45.

4. Italian Pizzeria III
College: University of North Carolina
Town: Chapel Hill, NC

Every component of these pizzas is handmade each day, and the sauce is reportedly their mother’s secret recipe. College kids love visiting this pizzeria to watch UNC games on TV.

3. Todaro Pizza
College: Clemson University
Town: Clemson, SC

Todaro Pizza aims to keep college students fed at all hours. They’re not only open late, but they provide plenty of opportunities each week for students to get their fill of pizza for a low cost. Sunday through Friday they offer a pizza buffet for just $7.50, and on Wednesday night, they sell pizza and beer for $1 each.

2. Pizza Shuttle
College: Kansas State University
Town: Manhattan, KS

Apparently, the secret to great pizza is – cream cheese. Pizza Shuttle claims the #2 spot with this interesting addition to every slice or pizza pie. Plus, the pizzeria keeps it student friendly by offering plenty of discounts and deals for dine-in, carryout and delivery.

1. Benny Marzano’s
College: Virginia Tech University
Town: Blacksburg, VA

As it turns out; size does matter – when it comes to pizza. Benny Marzano’s slices of pizza reportedly require two paper plates to serve and are more than enough to fill up starving college students. At the same time, this college town pizzeria keeps it simple by offering only cheese, pizza and sliced sausage in the lineup.

And for those with a sweet tooth, Great Value Colleges also selected the top 50 college town ice cream parlors in the country. Here are the top five:

5. Slickables Ice Cream Sandwiches – Arizona Stata University in Tempe, AZ
