- The James P. Homer Memorial Scholarship is open to entering freshmen at the University of West Alabama. You must demonstrate financial need, leadership and academic abilities to be considered for this award. You must also submit letters of recommendation along with your application. This award provides $800 for freshman year and $400 for sophomore, junior and senior years provided you maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75.
