Description

The Juneteenth Illinois Scholarship and Mentorship Program is available to graduating high school senior students who are residents of Chicago, belong to an underrepresented population, and will enroll as a full-time student at an accredited four-year university or college. Selection is based on a 250-maximum essay addressing the following topic: "Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It's a day to celebrate freedom, reflect on the ongoing struggle for racial equality, and recommit to building a more just future. Describe how the Juneteenth holiday's significance inspires your academic and personal goals. How will your education contribute to creating a more equitable society?". Recipients will receive a financial scholarship award and year-long mentorship to achieve their academic goals while exposing them to successful professionals for guidance and support.
