We know you’re on it, one of your parents might be on it and even grandma may be logging on, but did you know that over half of all U.S. internet users are now on Facebook?
According to a study published in February 2011, eMarketer estimates that over half of all internet users are registered on Facebook. More specifically the organization states that these users were logging on at least once a month by the end of 2010. According to Facebook, over half of users log on at least once a day.
In the same study eMarketer predictes that 132.5 million U.S. web users will be on Facebook this year. According to Facebook there are over 500 million active users currently on the site, 70% of which are outside of the U.S. With the projected increase, this year Facebook will reach nine in 10 social network users and 57.1% of all internet users. At that same rate 62% of web users and almost half of the U.S. population will be on Facebook by the year 2013. Meaning Facebook is not just for the young people, college kids or the computer savvy anymore.

Since its launch in 2004, Facebook has spread like wild fire and is now available in 70 translations across the world essentially saturating the market. Consequently the spread is soon said to slow. Despite it’s continued user increase, eMarketer predicts single-digit growth in new users of the site after the 2011 year.
Facebook hasn’t fled too far from its roots, for those that have seen 2010 film _The Social Network_ you know Facebook was started by college students at Harvard University. According to a study done by iStrategtLabs
, in 2010 18-24 year olds made up 40.8% percent of the Facebook audience, followed by 25-34 year olds who made up 26.7%.
