This good news comes at especially poignant time. In 2024 – 25, the updated FAFSA rollout met with hurdle after hurdle, delaying financial aid package delivery to late spring and early summer, which impacted when and how students were able to make a final college decision. The rollout of real-time FASFA results nearly two years later makes good on the promises the Department of Education made to simplify the FAFSA and make it work better for students, parents, and administrators alike.

What Students Will See Right After Submitting

Once students have submitted the 2026 – 27 FAFSA, they will immediately receive their FAFSA Submission Summary. This form provides the Student Aid Index (SAI), Pell Grant eligibility, and any comment or reject codes. • What is the SAI? The SAI is a number that represents your financial need. Numbers will range from 1,500 to 999,999. The lower the number, the more financially needy you are. Schools will use this figure to subtract from their cost of attendance and develop a financial aid package. • What are comment/reject codes?
