Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse Training (Lpn, Lvn, Cert., Dipl, Aas)

Nursing is always in high demand. To become a licensed practical nurse, a student either needs to obtain an associate’s degree, which is 18-24 months, or via a diploma, which is a 12-month specific track designed just for nursing. Once that’s done, the NCLEX-PN certification test is next.

What does an LPN do? An LPN is the assistant to the RN and doctors. The LPN handles general nursing responsibilities at hospitals, nursing homes and long-term care facilities. An LPN takes vital signs, distributes medication, monitors patients and reports the daily activities to the RNs.

While the highest level of nursing is a registered nurse, LPNs can enter the nursing field with a year of education and grow their career from the field. The average national salary of an LPN ranges by location, from $30,000 a year to $80,000 annually in markets with a higher cost of living.
