IAAM Sankofa Fellowship
International African American Museum
The IAAM Sankofa Fellowship is open to rising junior and senior-level undergraduate students who are passionate about African American history, community service, and cultural preservation. To be considered for this opportunity, you must submit and essay detailing your interest in the fellowship and your personal and professional goals. As a fellow, you will be immersed in community-building, professional development, and cultural engagement to see how the past informs both the present and the future in African-American communities. This is a transformative program, rendering deep impact and engagement over two weeks. If you are selected for this program, you will help IAAM's community partner, Amor Healing Kitchen, develop a Gullah Geechee culturally specific, healthy recipe to address food insecurity and health disparities in Charleston, SC. You will also shadow various IAAM teams and assist with the final preparations and execution of IAAM's signature 3rd Annual Juneteenth On the Yard (J.O.Y) Celebration. Housing and meals are provided.
