Aspiring songwriters can honor Dolly Parton's legacy of musical storytelling while earning scholarship funds to pursue their educational dreams through the Dolly Parton Songwriters Award.
Dolly Parton is the Queen of Country – and the Queen of giving back. 1n 1988, she created The Dollywood Foundation, and since it’s inception, she has distributed millions of free books to children around the country through her Imagination Library campaign as well as thousands of dollars in scholarships. In the spirit of giving back, the BMI Foundation created the Dolly Parton Songwriters Award for aspiring musicians and lyricists. Deadline: 1/15/26 Award Amount: Up to $20,000 Available to: Ages 17 – 24 The Dolly Parton Songwriters Award is available to student songwriters of country music and related genres, including Americana, blues, bluegrass, contemporary Christian, folk, and roots. You must submit an original song in one of the aforementioned genres to be considered for this award.
