Program for Entering Freshmen

The Higher Education Research Experience at Oak Ridge National Laboratory Program for Entering Freshmen is available to entering freshman students who are pursuing a degree or career in science, mathematics, engineering, technology, or a related field. The 10- week summer program allows students to complement academic programs and improve scientific literacy by assisting with Oak Ridge National Laboratory's research in the fields of neutron science, biological systems, energy, advanced materials, national security, super computing and other areas. To be eligible, you must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien, be at least 18 years old, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, have received a high school diploma from a U.S. school in the term immediately preceding participation, and have been accepted at an accredited U.S. college or university for the term immediately following participation.
