The Historic Interpreter Internship (Male Soldier) at Mackinack Island Historic Parks is available to male students who are at least 18 years or older (as of the first date of the internship) and demonstrate an interest in historical interpretation. You must be out-going and enthusiastic and have strong public contact and speaking skills. You must also have the musical ability and background to be able to play (or learn how to play) an appropriate musical instrument. Interns will interpret the daily life of American soldiers during the 1880s at Fort Mackinac. Interns will play, sing and interpret appropriate military and social music, demonstrate 19th century US military marching, rilfe and cannon firing, and participate in re-enactments and tours.
