When my mom was younger.. in her teens parents paid for college. Most families saved and planned for it. One persnon was usually working..dad.  Now a days it takes 2 people to work for the same amount of money back then and it it much harder. So I think if the parents can do it great, but most can't. We.. sons or daughters, need to help out with our education.

ZakyS3, you have wonderful insight. As a parent of two sons in college and a college student myself, I understand all too way the financial burden that the high cost of education can cause. It is my desire to see my sons advance through college debt free, and so far, I have been able to balance this. I want to see them through at least their first degree, then after that, any debt incurred for education should be manageable for them. So, I agree with you that it is a joint responsibility.
