I had a 4 on last year's AP U.S. History Exam.

The reason I did well is because I had an awesome teacher. Almost every week he gave homework assignments that were different lists of people and events in US History. For each event, we would look it up in the textbook and write down it's significance in history in a paragraph or two. By the end of the year, I had about 25 "identifiction" lists, and I studied them thoroughly a few weeks before the exam. They helped  A LOT!

Try taking your own nots on important dates, events, and people in history. Remember, your notes are for YOU. Review them and study them all a few weeks before the AP exam. Good luck!

Hello! I'm in the same situation as you. I'm also taking APUSH and here are some tips on maintaining a good knowledge of the class to prepare for the test.

1. I definitely agree with above poster. If you don't have a good teacher who assigns vocabulary words, then I suggest you start your own. My teacher makes us to 25-40 each chapter and they're really helpful.

2.  Google: American Pageant 13th Edition and click course notes. I would just give you the link but for some reason Google is really lagging today for me. The website pretty much sums up everything important in each chapter. And it's amaaazing! I print out each note every time we start a new chapter and I highlight the upmost information of the already diluted notes so I can prepare before the actual AP test later on in the year :) !

3. Read outside books. I borrowed some biographies about important presidents just to get a closer sense to what is going on in those time periods. Fun tip: search president animaniacs (sp?) on youtube. There's a catchy song that helps you memorize all the presidents in order and gives you a bit of background information as to why they're important.

Hope this helps! :) :)
