The only thing holding me back from getting a job is my COLLEGE!

Posted 16 days ago I went to school for 14 months to become a licensed massage therapist in the state of New Hampshire. The tuition was just about $15,000. I had help from finincial aid, but there was a gap since I had taken previous courses in another program, leaving me to pay $280 out of pocket every month. There were bumps in the road because the school got a new president a couple months before I graduated and he was completely ripping everything good out of the school and jacking up tuition costs... but that is another story. Anyway, I was enrolled for the year 2008-2009. I graduated on August 29, 2009. It is now November and I have yet to see my diploma. Financial Aid Dept. never notified me that I needed to update my fafsa for 2010 (because apparently July/Aug 2009 is the 2010 school year) until 2 1/2 weeks AFTER I was finished school. So the installment made by my loan funder for those months were returned, leaving me in bad standing with - $1400 on my school account. I retro activley filled out the fafsa needed and patiently waited for the funds to be repaid. Once that happened, I went to the school the following week and requested my diploma. Hahahaha... I was told that It wasnt even ordered because the woman in charge of that duty had been out sick for 5 weeks and needed to catch up. I was told to try again at the end of November!! How is this MY fault?! On top of paying for school, I paid out of pocket to be certified in CPR and first aid (which should have been part of the tuition...New President changed it mid program) and aquired liability insurance ($200). So, the only thing that is stopping me from getting licensed is the fact that I do not have a diploma to send to the State office to get my license...therefore i cannot work!!! Is there something legal I could do about this? |
