ok here is my situation:

I'm in my 2nd year of school at a private college.  All last year I payed $300 a month and my parents paid $300 a month. (on top of taking loans out) (I didn't get any financial aid)  Well at the start of this year, so August 2009 I found out that it would going to be $900 a month and my parents and I couldn't afford that much of an increase.  The only thing my college suggested was to take out a private loan (which would mean higher interest)

Instead I decided to live at home this year and save money that way(since my college is in my home town) Now I'm half way through my fall semester and spring is right around the corner. Because of more money issues I discovered I will be responsible for $800 a month starting in the spring.  I've already decided to take a few classes somewhere else to try to save up money for the following year.

Because my degree is not common among most schools no other school close offers my major.  I feel like I'm stuck; and just don't know what to do.  I solved the problem for this spring, but what about for next year?  If anyone has any suggestions at all I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,

Have you tried applying for scholarships?  Not all of them are based on need.  Apply for as many as you can this year and next year you won't have to pay as much.  I learned how to apply for and win scholarships from here:  http://www.how2winscholarships.com

You could always sit out for like one semester and simply work full time that semester saving everything and then go back with more money the following one. Its not always what someone wants to do... I know from experience, I've already sat out one semester a year and a half ago and I'm looking at possibly having to sit out again next semester to... But it makes a world of difference in your finances to save up for a couple months.
