| Posted 29 days ago I did not have my parents sign. i was only 17 when i started. i did it all on my own. You probably have to file as an independent... its alot of work though.. |

| Posted 25 days ago Your parents unwillingness to sign the FAFSA WILL NOT make you independent. You must be any of the following:
If you cannot answer yes to any of these then you are a dependent student. Yes there can be special circumstances but cases of abuse will have to be proven with documentation which will have to be given to each college that you have been accepted to. The financial aid offices will determine whether or not the additional documentation that you provided is sufficient BUT if you do not have any special circumstances then you will not be made a independent student. |

| Posted 20 days ago I think you can apply right after you turn 18 and still have plenty of time to get aid before you start in the fall. You shouldn't have any trouble getting aid then. When I was your age, my parents wouldn't do the paper work either simply because they just couldn't afford to put me through school. Just check with the FA office again and let them know the situation. All schools are different but I think you will have time. |

| Posted 16 days ago I had major surgery in April going to college never crossed my mind until June, I went in and applied then and was awarded financial aid. Don't give up and ask questions of the financial aid office of the college you want to attend. By the way I am going back to school after being out for 25 years I am 42 I know you will succeed. |
