Hey, if your homeschooled, I guess sometimes you share the same struggles as I do as well as the benefits. I just thought I'd open this up for any homeschoolers who want to dialog=)!

Home schooling is awesome! I have been home schooled all my life and am so happy about it. It's nice being around your family all day and learning to get along with each other. Sadly, this is my last year.;( Funny, but it seems the grades get easier as they get higher. Not easier content, but you know how to manage time better and how to apply yourself.

I have just a few months left of school and although the transition to college will be somewhat uncertain for me, I think my parents have trained me well.

CoryS264,

What are you majoring in? I hope I'm ready for college, too. If I'm not, I can't say it's my parents' fault, though.;)

I go to public school but to those of you who are homeschooled.....

Do you ever find it boring?

I ask this becuse I always thought of it as just you and your mom or dad sitting down doing homework or something.

What is it really like?

Sorry AbigailR234 that I've been off the web for a few days.

Not sure it you'll even respond to this, but I hope your doing well. I've been reading some of your comments posted around FastWeb and you have a lot of good things to say. Not sure if you know the answer, but are you aware of when they took the "What it means to be a Christian" posting off the site? I started it and since I haven't been on the web in a while I don't know when it ceased to exist.  Hmm, wonder why they would do something like that? I did enjoy your responses to Crow43. I was doing my best to witness to him.

As for what I majoring in. I plan to be a pediatric radiologist. I want to work with kids as well as stretch the mind God has given me. Radiology sounds like a very interesting field for me. I start a CNA class in November for two weeks. After that I plan to work full time at the hospital as a CNA and start college while going to work full time. I'm really looking forward to it. What do you plan to major in? With 15 people in your family, how many are girls and how many are boys. I have 22 year old sister, a two year old brother and my Mom is pregnant with fourth. We haven't quite reached your number and are not likely to since my Mom is 43. By the way, because my name can be both ways, I'm a guy. I'm 18 as of August and graduate hopefully by the first of December. If you get a chance, respond back. It's always nice to hear from people who share the same values.

Homeschooling is boring only if you make it be boring. We have friends just like public schoolers and my parents actually don't act as teachers but more or less give a list of assignments to be done and expect them done at a certain time. You could say that since I began highschool, I've virtually taught myself through Advanced biology, physics, chemistry, theology, algebra, Euclidian geometry, Advanced Mathematics, world history, amer. history, economics etc... This is why I'm hoping I'm fairly well prepared for college. I have relatively good discipline skills and I know how to take notes etc... Thanks for asking, most people don't have a clue what in the world we do all day. Any more questions?

CoryS264, that is weird that they took those topics off. I was enjoying talking to Crow43.;( The last time I posted on it was this morning and I haven't been on since then, so it must have been sometime today.

Wow, that major sounds really cool! I'm planning on doing either premed or nursing. I've always loved science, and the human body is amazing! After college, I plan to get a job somewhere ( I don't think it'll be too hard with that field) until I get married. I am so excited about what God has for me!

I've always thought it'd be neat to play football, but homeschooling has more ups then downs and I can play football at our homeschool meetings. I actually went to public school up through sixth grade and I don't miss it much!

Thanks for giving me a time frame as to when they removed the discussion line. Wow! guess we're both going into pre-med, I'm looking forward to it as well. I know quite a few homeschoolers who wait until after college to get a job. Will you be commuting? God definately has a plan in store for you and my prayer is that you follow His guidance outlined by His Word. All things work for the good of those who love God and who are called according to His purpose. (I think that was pretty close to literal in Romans 8:28, but there may have been a little paraphrasing =)) God Bless You!

CoryS264,

I'm not really sure of my plans for after college, but I'm looking into several possibilities, such as working at the local hospital or possibly studying abroad. However, overall, I'm not really looking for a career, rather an experience that will equip me for the rest of my life. If and after I get married, I will be a full-time mom and home school my kids unless God directs otherwise. I'm praying for you, too. May the Lord direct you always in His service! Nice to hear from you again. I was wondering if you had died over the weekend or something...;D

Ha ha, no I didn't die over the weekend, but was gone at our house in the country. When we're there, I don't have access to the internet, plus the fact that I've been really digging in to finishing up my research paper. I'm glad to hear that your plans are to become a stay-at-home mother, there's no higher calling in the world for a woman than that one. Wherever the Lord leads me I will follow. My ambition for right now is to simply finish up highschool and attend MCC (a junior college) in the spring. I'll probably wind up getting my LVN, RN, and then moving my way to become a pediatric radiologist. I love working with kids. I love kids in general, they're quite a blessing NOT a burden (or at least raised correctly they're not a burden =) )! My priorities from greatest to least are God, family (including my Church family), school, and lastly entertainment (this is dead last on my priority list).

In Christ,

Cory

My parents bought a house in the country out on three acres five months ago. It still needs alot of work (as in cleaning cedar breaks). they want to live there long term, but our house here in the city still needs to sell and it will sell better furnished.. So, we've been spending our weekends out there. I've cleared so much cedar, it's rediculous. So when we're there on the weekends, I'm not here and that equates to no internet.. Does that clear things up? =)

OK, that makes sense.;) We have a big yard too, and I've done so much yard work in it, I feel like I should get a medal or something.;) It requires a lot of upkeep, so I'm glad I have brothers to do stuff like that, lol.

I think we still have about 1,000,000,000,000,000 trees to go. =) The truth is, there's probably about 1,000 trees left to clear, but it takes FOREVER to clear a single tree, even with a heavy duty chain saw, plus I still have to mow the yard here etc... lawn business is an honorable job, but I think I'd rather leaf (pun intended=) that to those who enjoy the hot and sweaty, back-breaking work. I'm very athletic and active, but there's just something about clearing trees that I don't like-maybe it's the repitition. And imagine that, tomorrow's Saturday-LOVELY. I really shouldn't complain considering the fact that I have food to eat, shelter to live under, and I know that I know that I know where I'm going when I die. I do wish I had a few brothers to do the dirty work though, consider yourself blessed. =) Have a fantastic weekend and maybe we'll continue the dialog Monday.

God Bless,

Cory

p.s. I finish up my research paper today which means I've concluded my highschool-I'm pretty estatic right now!!! ;)

Hey, CoryS264,

Sorry I've been gone for a while. School has been demanding, so I haven't had much extra time.

Congratulations on finishing that paper! I bet you're excited to be done with high school and starting your career. I hope you always strive to please and glorify God in all you do!

At the expense of interrupting your conversation, I would like to join in. I am also a home-schooled student, and I do believe that the greatest blessing of home-schooling is that my parents have instilled a love for learning into my soul. I don't know how else to put it!

God Bless,

~Spy

Hey, Spy!

What grade are you in? I know what you mean; homeschooling has really given me an appreciation of learning. I don't think I could have received the same mindset in public or Christian school. If you don't mind sharing, what are your plans for after graduation?

I am graduating next Spring! I am a 12th grader.

Furthermore, I don't mind sharing. I am interested in pursuing a legal major, and one that could help me get into the judicial branch of our government. In order to reach that end, I am looking at several private institutions which seem to offer government and philosophy majors. Perhaps that sounds boring to you, but I have always wanted to be a lawyer since my years in Junior High. After taking a course in Constitutional Law, my eyes were open to the reality of how the judicial branch has been abused. I wish to serve my Lord as one of those few honest lawyers who fights in the front lines of America's moral/spiritual battle. That about covers the extent of my future plans, with lots of paperwork, competitions and textbooks in between the lines.

God Bless,

~Spy

SimpleSpy,

That is anything but boring! I was considering a major similar to that but decided I'd rather do science. Your goal is definitely needed. If you haven't already looked at it, Patrick Henry College is a really good school with that same focus. A lot of the students there are home schooled, and it is a very high-achieving school.

Indeed, that is my college of choice, and my keystone application. I really hope I get accepted into PHC, and I will be praying... a lot!

SimpleSpy,

Wow! It's not an easy college, but definitely worth the effort and high cost. I have a very close relative going there who didn't have to pay much of the tuition because of many scholarships. I hope you get accepted, too, because we seriously need people with motives and goals like the you have in the judicial branch of our government. By the way, from reading your posts, I've taken it that you are a born-again believer of Jesus Christ. Are you?
