Posted about 1 month ago I am diabetic and have been since first grade. My counselor told me there were scholarships avaiable for sudents with health issues. Can you point me in the right direction? |

| Posted about 1 month ago Abuelt: I am 17 years old and I have been a diabetic since the age of 10. I am also searching for scholarships. My Mom has done some extensive research and here are some suggested sites and places that you can check out... www.Diabetes.com, www.ed.gov (search scholarships and grants for students with Type 1 diabetes), www.diabetesscholars.org, www.isletsofhope.com, Diabetets Hope Foundation and www.jdrf.org. Also, diabetes is listed as a Disability. You can read more at www.Disability.gov and as above, www.ed.gov. Each school/college have programs for financial aid and scholarships for students with diabetes and you can go to the school's website for more info on this. Diabetes is listed under "IDEA", Individuals with Disabilities Education Act defining Diabetes as a disability listed under "OHI"...Other Health Impairment. And you can search "Financial Aid and Scholarships for students with Disabilities" and Scholarships for Students with Health Conditions....and it will lead you to alot of different sites. | Posted 23 days ago Wow! I have been coming to this site looking for scholarships and never seen the discussion area. I just found out yesterday that my son may be diabetic and it really has me worried. He is only 13. I see now after reading all of your post that most of you were young also when diagnost with it. I am so sorry for all of you. But thank you all for giving me a little ease on this situation. I know that everything will be ok just from reading your positive replys....thank you all |
