No money for school.

Posted 2 months ago I was accepted to school in July because I was picked for verification be FAFSA and then the school lost a couple of my papers that I sent in. Now I am stuck with a huge bill and a hold on my school record. I was confident about school even though I didn't have a dorm or a job but I was glad to hear that my classes were covered. Yesterday I came to school for the first day of class thinking that everything having to do with my classes were fine except for the Accuplacer test I had to take because the school I previously attended would not release my scores. I went into the testing center and passed all sections of the test and I was good to go. So what's wrong? Well, I applied for scholarships and I have received not one single answer from any of the scholarships I applied to. I applied for loans but because I am not an American Citizen which I didn't know until my senior year of high school I can't take out loans that easily unless someone co-signs for me and it has to be an American Citizen. The school dropped me from a class without sending me a notice and then added the class back again but my grant money had already been reduced because of an error the school made. I have no one to co-sign for me because my family and I don't really know many people who would be willing to put themselves in a situation where they would have to take up responsibility for paying in case I can't and I don't blame them especially since we are dealing with money and due to the current status of the economy. My family is not willing to help me out but if it were my older brother or younger sister then they would do anything but not me. They believe that because I had good grades throughout school, participated in after school activities, and volunteered at a hospital that money will be readily available to me. I also graduated number seven from a class of 400+ students and it bothers me that they cannot understand. What would you do if you were in my situation? That is my question. I went in to apply for an on-campus job but they all said that I have no experience. I feel like I've been somewhat sheltered my whole life that I don't know how anything really works and I don't have independence either. I've been applying for scholarships and looking for jobs since my freshman year of high school and I've only received one scholarship for $500 which was used for school the first year at a community college. By the way, my parents think that I can get my bachelor's from a community college and yes some are now offering that option but it's a fairly new program and it's geared mostly towards anyone going for the arts or nursing which is not what I am going towards. What should I do? |

| Posted 2 months ago Hey, I understand your situation is complicated and frustrated. My college is confusing also, they lost a few papers, and they even forgot to send me the letter with my orientation date so I could register for classes. As for the financial part of it. Scholarships, can only take you so far. I found the best way to pay for college is not by saving, but by earning. You can check it out at; good luck, I hope this helps your with your financial situatoin. College can be frustrating at times. cheers,
