Just got into a Master's Program. I'm now debating on which route I want to trek down. I plan on pursuing my doctorate. The professor I will be working under said many PhD programs look at higher grades (overall) and an independent research project these days. Spending alot of time on a thesis, while making ok grades is obviously counter-productive. However, I have always been under the impression that "better' doctoral programs prefer (or outright require) a thesis for admission. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
