Posted 7 months ago If you are going to actually go off to college and not live at home, you can definately do it. But do not get me wrong. When people say it is hard, it is because you will literally have to do everything that you need to stay and sustain your life. Up to this point in your life, if you didn't do your laundry, your mom might have, or if you didn't do the dishes your mom might have, or even when you come home and your hungry, you open the fridge and theres food there. This will not be the case in college if you go away. EVEN IF your parents give you money, you will need to go out and spend it on food, clothing, toothpaste etc... All of this is not including college. When I was a freshman, I hund out with my friends too much, and that definately hurt my grades. Basically there will always be people to hang out with, and that's the tough part. You need to have another level of discipline at this point to stay away from them as well. For the most part, if you study a week or so before the exam, you should do great in classes, but do not rely on this, because you will always regret the fact that you procrastinated, ALWAYS! The hard part is juggling your life, college itself, unless your a science major is pretty easy, but it is gonna be hard in the beginning. It is another way of studying, yes studying, basically you can't understand how you need to study until you actually go to college and see. I screwed up my first semester, but I learned my lesson, even though it was the hard way. And I was the kid who never drank, or went to parties - straight edge. I just hung out with my friends wayyyyyy too much. That would proabably be easier if you are going to college far away from your house. Hope that helps

Posted 7 months ago If you are used of doing everything by yourself in high school then it will be easy for you. if not you will have to learn how to do everthing. my first year of college wasnt that hard.

Posted 7 months ago first two years of college are not difficult at all. Just do all your work, go to all your classes, get a tutor for whichever class you feel you are not doing well in and you should be fine. Sometimes I feel high school was more difficult.

Posted 7 months ago I agree with you KatherineD12 about feeling that high school is more difficult. If you need help in one of your classes ask your teacher. They might hold a study group before or after class.

Posted 6 months ago I believe difficulty not only depends on your major, but more so on how hard you are willing to work toward it. The most important thing is don't get to mixed up in parties, etc. You are on your own in college, teachers aren't gonna care if you don't do your work. Your the one paying for the course/materials, they will just mark you wrong or late and be done with it. Some teachers are kind, but don't milk it. I am currently doing a community college to get used to college level work. When i was younger i never used to do my work, and my freshman year at college was terrible as a result. Now i am doing my work, and the grades are beginning to show. College is only as hard as you make it for yourself. Try not to be pressured by your peers to go to parties or skip class. You do that and you'll never finish. Also, don't feel embarrased about asking peers for help, and don't be afraid to see your teacher or go to your school's tutoring center if you need help. I hope that advice helps you out.

Posted 6 months ago The main thing is to do your work and not at the last minute either. The teachers aren't gonna remind you to do your work. You got to remind yourself to do it. Sometimes I do my work at the last minute and I see my grades are getting bad because I do the work late. Don't mix parties and school together.

Posted 6 months ago i feel it is eaiser to look at college on t.v than go to college it is going to be the same but your doing the extra work , not needing your parents to do anything, you learn as you go, have more than 100 students in one class, and when you go tell me how your doing

Posted 6 months ago It all depends what you make of it. Make sure what you want to do before stepping off into it. Since I have experienced the online (distance) learning aspect, I rather like it.

Posted 6 months ago I think it really depends on how you apply yourself. Everyone is different. If you are extremely intelligent and have no problems grasping new concepts, then it would be easier for you than others. It is all about how hard you want to work. If you are afraid of hard work, then you are going to struggle in LIFE, not just college. Laziness is only tolerated if you collect change at a tollbooth. Every job has aspects that will require hard work to excel. Don't focus on the difficulty of college right now. No one can tell you how hard it will be for you because no one knows you as well as you do. My only advice is make sure you follow your dreams and work like hell to achieve them. I waited 15 years before going back to school. I have held many jobs only to get back into the field that I originally planned on getting into right out of high school. Don't let your fears cripple your future.

Posted 6 months ago if you are asking that question, then yes it probaby will be hard. If you don;t already grasp the concept of getting results only thru hard work then you are behind the curve on college and LIFE, as the previous poster noted. College will only be as hard as you let it be, and it also depends on what you want out of it. Are you going in ready to accept a mediocre output, or are you reaching for the stars? Go for mediocre...you'll end up at the bottom

Posted 5 months ago It depends upon your ability to adapt to change, being with yourself, depending on yourself, and meeting deadlines, studying instead of partying, and how depend you are on your family... If you cannot "live without mom/family" begin your transition at a 2 yr, until you mature... How are you at managing your time, caring for yourself, and surviving in crises? Being at college is a transition towards adulthood, and full independence, and if you are still overly emotionally attached to your family, then you may want to stay home. But, being home is not a life sentence, it can be a good time to save, work and prepare for your own place, while at home. But, if you stay home, you need to make a contract with your parents about what is expected or not from you and you from them. This will eliminate issues in the harder times for exams... But, more than anything, know what you want to achieve before yr college, before you move to a 4 yr, become scared and want to go home...

Posted 5 months ago As a Junior in college my answer is that YES it is hard but its not impossible- there a retimes you are just breezing through and times where you are sure the world is caving in on you. The key is Never Give Up! there is always hope and anyone who really wants to finish college can do it!

Posted 5 months ago College is hard! I graduated out of the top 20 in my graduating class and I am considering dropping out as we speak. If you are a science, or engineering major, it is that much more difficult. I wanted to be bio-major but now thats not going to happen. I am not a party person and haven't been out once since I been here. The most important thing is to remember time management is key! One other thing to note is to seek help as soon as you need it....that way u won't fall behind!

Posted 5 months ago I believe that college is not as a hard as peoplpe say it is, but geting int o a college was a challege. Basically the professors can help a lot only if you have ask for a one on one tutoring program. There are many work shops and tutor programs tha tcan help you excel in your classes. I took Critcial Thinking and thta course had me think beyond my knowledge so we had to do research and find evidence on our opinion. Back to the point college is a hands on school which will help in the long run.

Posted 4 months ago I think there are some classes that are especially difficult to take as you progress, but I agree with other posters:it's all about the effort you put forth, how badly you want to finish, and what you are willing to sacrifice. For me, it took some time to sink in but college does require some sacrifice socially, financially, physically--something of importance has to be given up. Someone put it this way: Sometimes you have to do what you don't want to do today (go to class instead of playing hooky to hang out w/ friends) in order to get what you want tomorrow (a degree, certification, knowledge and skills, higher earning bracket).

Posted 4 months ago I agree. It definitely depends on how much effort you put into it. I'm a college junior right now, and this is actually the first semester I started to really buckle down and realize what's important. Unfortunately, I have a friend who is a senior and she still hasn't figured it out. She continues to party whenever she can, and rarely does the work that she needs to do. It definitely took some time to sink into me, but I'm doing what I need to do right now. And honestly, I work about five times as much as I have in the past, and it really isn't that bad as you think....unless you're doing Pre-Med or something lol Good luck regardless!!

Posted 4 months ago I think that it all depends on each individual, age, and current resposibilities. If your comming straight out of high scool, and decide to go to college, and still live with your parents well than youve got it made. If you graduated from high school, waited a few years ended up having kids work a full time job and decide that you want to go back to school, I highly recommend getting your priorities straight and manage your time wisely. No matter how hard college may seem by another persons own opionion, you should really try it out for yourself. If college is something that you really want to pursue, so that you can better yourself and your future, than it shouldnt really matter how hard it is.

Posted 3 months ago its a lot harder when you jump straight into a university. community colleges seem easier

OK...Well i'm sure college is somewhat hard, but what parents don't understand is that alot of us young adults want to see how it feels to really get out on our own instead of relying on our parents to provide a house and the food we eat!!!!!! I mean of course we will miss not having to pay bills and someone not there to lean on but, WE DO HAVE TO GROW UP SOMETIME YA KNO???????????If my parents made it on there own im sure i can to! SO SERIOUSLY>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> IS LEAVING OFF TO COLLEGE REALLY THAT HARD?????
