Posted 3 months ago I got into DeVry University for the Game Simulation and Programming BS. I attended for three years, part time and when the courses started to get more difficult for me, I thought it would be best to choose a simular, but less math heavy major. I thought perhaps the Art Institue's Game Art & Design program would be the way to go. When I spoke to the finiancial advisor there, she explained to me that I'm at my agragate limit with my FASFA/subsudized/unsubsidized loan (15k left). When I first got into DeVry, I didn't sit down with anyone, most of it was explained to me over the phone, and like a dork, I didn't do my research proir to getting in. Now, here I am with three years (part time) of school behind me, I can't finish Any degree because I don't have the finances to cover it. I've applied for many scholarships for the past two years (while attending DeVry because I wanted to take more classes) with no luck (one scholarship required my HS counselor's and HS teacher's signatures - I think one retired and the other one died a few years ago). I've looked into grants - which I don't qualify for because: I'm not married, no kids, I make to much (29k a year), I'm not black, native american, or my credit score isn't high enough, oh and i'm 37 years old. I've asked my parents for a co-signed loan, which they refuse to do. I've looked into using what I have left to go to community college, which they won't accept DeVry credits and will only give me an AA degree, and even if I get that there's no chance of getting a job because I've spent the last 8 years in the Behavioral Health field. So, here I am with three years of nothing and nothing to pay for finishing school. I'd be the first sibling in my family to have a degree, but more importantly I'd be doing more than working low end jobs. I need suggestions. Any kind of thing I can do to get the $40k I need to finish school. I have 6 months to figure this out before my FASFA loans kick in for repayment. So, any help on this would be greatly appriciated.

| Posted 2 months ago Hey you can try working online, it's really simple and it takes just a few minutes a day. When you first start out, you won't be making alot, I got up to a $100 my first month, but after a while your earnings increase, now I average around $500 a month. You just fill out surveys for very large companies online, and they pay you. There are other ways of earning with the site as well, it's self explanatory. If you want to give it a try the site is; |

Personally, I would take the AA & see if the $15k would go further at a state school. You could take online classes through them. I know that devry & the rest of the online schools sound less impressive in an interview as well. I am in the same boat except now laid off with unemployment & can't get anything for the exact same issues. I have NO idea how I'm going to pay for school much less anything else AND I am switching to a completely different major next semester. Well, if I can go. Good luck!!! |
