Swaying palm trees, silky smooth sand and calm, rustling waves. The Caribbean islands – some of the most sought-after vacation destinations in the world. This spring break, you can experience paradise at a low price. Here are our Caribbean picks for this school year’s most anticipated week.
Don’t worry, be happy, mon. It’s the mantra of Jamaica, and one of the best islands in the Caribbean to live in the now. You’ll literally forget about your “former life” as a student and immerse yourself in the island culture.
Must-do: Cliff jumping at Rick’s Café. We will warn you that tourists have been seriously injured trying to pull this stunt while others have mastered the cliffs like the pros. Rick’s Café is the place to be at sunset, and you can either watch the locals dive or try it for yourself.
Must-eat: Jamaica is known for jerk chicken, coconut chips and plantains. You can find these culinary experiences at any roadside stand. Editor’s warning: You will want to eat jerk chicken every day after your first bite.
Must-see: Dunn’s River Falls. The Falls are a major Jamaican attraction, boasting 600 feet of cold mountain water that spills over large stones into the Caribbean. Visitors can climb the large rocks with guides as well as experience an authentic Jamaican market.
