What Does a College Freshman's Day Look Like?
In college, every day brings something different, and that is the best part about it!
College is the best. That is all I can really say. If you are in high school, trust me, college will be the greatest whirlwind of your life and you will love every minute of it. My day to day life is incredibly varied because I am involved in a lot of different things including classes, journalism honors program, writing for the newspaper, ushering at the school’s auditorium, working at the bookstore and more!
I am hyper-involved, but here is what a sort-of busy day would look like for me! 8:45: Wake up *Disclaimer: I don’t wake up this early every day! Usually only three times a week because I have a 9:30 class Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
9:30-10:45 a.m.: Attend my Informatics Lab This class is one where I learn to code HTML websites and I pretty much work on the computer the whole time, so it’s an easy class to start off with.
11:15 a.m.-12:05 p.m.: Attend German class This class is just a standard language class, and I am taking German! I have this class four days a week and it counts for four credit hours. 12:30 p.m.- 2:15 p.m.: Eat lunch, do homework and/or nap I have a nice long break and so I usually eat or do other things. A lot of times I make calls or go meet people for interviews for my articles in the newspaper. 2:30 p.m.-3:45 p.m.: Attend Journalism Writing Class I attend a writing class that is required for my journalism major. 3:45-4:15 p.m.: Edit my newspaper article I write about three articles per week for the newspaper and each time I turn one in I have to go in to fact check and edit my story with the editors. Sometimes it only takes 10 minutes, but sometimes it can take up to 45 minutes. After all of that, it usually varies. Sometimes I go to the IU basketball games, sometimes I work at the bookstore and other times I volunteer usher at the auditorium and then get to watch the shows for free! In college, every day brings something different, and that is the best part about it! I have different classes every day, sometimes only one and other times four in one day. My best advice is to get involved in something that you love, something that you are interested in and watch your college experience unfold before your eyes! You can’t imagine all of the things that I have already done and experienced in just one semester. But I have to admit, it has been one of the best six months of my life. So get involved, experience new things and have fun! Oh, and definitely get a calendar. You’re going to need it.
