If you think you’ve got a lot of summer reading to do think again, five university students in the Dominican Republic have been reading for 300 hours, straight.
According to huffingtonpost.com the students are reading aloud in an effort to not only break the previously set Guinness World Record of 240 hours but also raise awareness about books in a country with one of the lowest reading levels in Latin America.
The students plan to continue reading through until Saturday, bringing their grand total to 365 hours. Their original plan was to stop reading on this past Wednesday. The chosen literacy is the complete works of former Dominican President and historian Juan Bosch.

@hughman67, I believe this was done by a group, so every X amount of hours one person would switch so that person could sleep. The article said that five students were doing this. I think that logically that means five people read at different times, because this wouldn't be as impressive if you read five students in a room.... that sounds like a typical college dorm now doesnt it?

300+ hours straight? Did I read that right? They didn't go to sleep for 300+ hours?
That's crazy. I couldn't go 12+ hours without sleep. That is one heck of an accomplishment.
But of course, the article didn't mention anything about sleep, so I'm just assuming that's what it meant by 300 hours straight.

I'm really pleased that these students aren't just reading aloud to break a Guinness World Record but to raise awareness about books and literacy.

You really need to have reading endurance to read 300 hours out aloud. I give you props for that keep continuing.
